Casa Blanca Attendance Policy
At CBCS, we understand the critical importance of regular attendance. We know that when students attend school regularly, their grades improve. Therefore, we encourage all students to aim for perfect attendance each quarter.
School Hours
School hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with early release on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Student drop off time starts at 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. (front of the school). We do not open the school doors until 7:30 a.m., and unless students participate in an after-school activity, we do not allow them to stay on the school campus later than 3:15 p.m. Please understand we do not provide supervision for students who arrive before or stay after these designated school hours. After school hours are 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. (only when 21st Century is in session).
When your child is sick and it is necessary for him/her to miss school, please let us know as soon as possible either by a phone call or a note. We ask all parents to please attempt to schedule doctor, dentist, and other appointments for students at times outside the school day.
Find out more about the type of symptoms that require you to keep your child home by visiting our Health Department page.
Tardiness
- So we can count your child as present for a school day, please have your child at school by 8:00 a.m. If a student arrives between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., we will count him/her present for a half-day only.
- If a student is late for school (after 8:00 a.m.), he/she must report to the front office before going to the classroom. The front office will give the student a pass to take to the classroom teacher.
- Examples of unexcused tardies include oversleeping and missing the bus.
- Strive for five (August to May) - Excused or unexcused absences.
Make up Policy
Students must make up all work for absences. When your child is absent from school and needs his/her homework assignments, please telephone the school office in the morning. The school office will notify the teacher, and the teacher will make the student a homework folder. Parents may pick up homework assignments in the school office at the end of the school day or ask the office to send it home with another child.
Truancy Ordinance
On December 1, 2004, the Gila River Indian Community Council enacted Ordinance GR-05-04, which revised the Gila River Indian Community’s Truancy Code. The truancy code begins at Section 4.605.02.B. of the Gila River Indian Community Children’s Code. Casa Blanca Community School will follow and enforce this code. Parents and guardians may obtain copies of the truancy code at the school office.
Truancy means more than five absences from school during any one semester, without a valid excuse.
